Overview
ACCE thesis
Wendy's runs the namesake burger chain, a franchise-heavy system where the large majority of its restaurants are owned by independent operators who pay royalties and rent back to the parent. That asset-light model is the core of the case: it produces a 14.3% operating margin and a 108% ROE on a business with only 1.7% revenue growth, a combination that points to a capital structure doing much of the work. The near-term catalysts are margin recovery and the company's ongoing push on value menus, digital ordering and loyalty to lift same-store sales, though the revenue line shows little sign of accelerating yet. At 10.2 times trailing and 12.4 times forward earnings, the stock is priced for limited growth, so the question for a deeper look is whether the franchise royalty stream is durable enough to justify that multiple, and whether the 48/100 score reflects balance-sheet leverage that a sharper pair of eyes would discount. It is not a name with index membership and a composite score of 48 sits in the lower half of our screen, so the work is worth doing only if the cash flow quality checks out.
