Overview
ACCE thesis
Patrick Industries makes the component parts that go into RVs, marine craft and manufactured housing: cabinetry, flooring, lighting, furniture and chassis parts sold to OEMs, plus a distribution arm that stocks the same products for dealers and aftermarket buyers. Its moat is mostly scale and integration: it supplies a large share of the industry's components and can bundle them across several end markets, which keeps it embedded in customer production schedules. The obvious near-term driver is a recovery in RV and marine wholesale volumes, since the company's revenue tracks dealer restocking and OEM build rates closely. The reason to look now is the valuation against a flat top line: revenue growth is -0.6%, yet the stock trades at 16.2x trailing and 13.3x forward earnings, with a 7.4% operating margin and 13.0% ROE. If unit volumes turn, the operating leverage on that margin base is the thing to model; if they don't, the multiple is not obviously cheap for a shrinking top line. The composite score of 49/100 says the quantitative profile is middling, so the case rests on the cycle call.
