Overview
ACCE thesis
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone runs India's largest private port network, with container terminals, bulk and liquid cargo berths, and logistics and special economic zone land attached to the ports. Its moat is physical: coastal concessions and terminal capacity are slow to permit and expensive to replicate, and that scarcity supports a 64.4% gross margin and 44.6% operating margin. Revenue is growing 18.6%, and the forward P/E of 22.4 against a trailing 29.9 implies the market expects earnings to catch up with that top-line growth. The near-term question is whether volume growth at the existing terminals keeps pace with the expansion capex, since returns on new capacity will determine whether the forward multiple holds. At a 4.03 trillion INR market cap with no index membership listed in our data, this is a name worth a deeper look on capacity utilisation and capital allocation, not on the multiple alone.
