Overview
ACCE thesis
Seanergy Maritime operates dry bulk carriers, chartering its Capesize and Panamax vessels to commodity shippers that move iron ore, coal and grain across global trade routes. The moat is thin, since freight rates are set by the market and the fleet is a commodity asset, so the case rests on cash generation at the top of the cycle rather than on pricing power. Revenue grew 48.6% and the company runs a 46.5% operating margin, which is high for a shipper and reflects firm charter rates and a lean cost base. At a 5.5x trailing and 4.8x forward P/E with a 21.4% ROE, the market is pricing in a sharp reversal in freight earnings, and that gap is what merits a closer look at charter coverage, fleet age and how much of the current earnings is durable.
