Frontline operates a fleet of crude oil tankers, primarily very large crude carriers (VLCCs) and Suezmax vessels, that it charters out to oil majors and traders on spot and time-charter terms. Its edge is scale and a young, high-spec fleet in a segment where newbuild supply is constrained, so earnings swing sharply with tanker rates, which is the source of the 96.5% revenue growth in the data. Near-term the driver is the rate environment for crude tonne-miles, and the 63.0% gross and 65.8% operating margins show how much of that rate strength reaches the bottom line. At a trailing P/E of 7.9 and a forward P/E of 10.0, the market is pricing in a meaningful normalisation of freight rates, so the question for a PM is whether current charter levels are durable or cyclical peak earnings. A 53.8% return on equity is exceptional and worth stress-testing against a downturn in tanker rates before drawing conclusions.
