Overview
ACCE thesis
Cinemark runs a theatre circuit across the Americas, with its Cinemark-branded multiplex screens, its Cinemark XD premium large-format auditoriums, and in-house concessions that drive a large share of per-patron revenue. The structural argument is operating leverage on a fixed screen base: with 15.5% revenue growth and a 21.7% operating margin, incremental attendance and pricing fall through to profit faster than the top line, which is why the stock screens at 13.6x forward earnings against a trailing 21.4x. The near-term catalysts are the continued box-office recovery and the slate of tentpole releases, both of which move attendance and concession spend on the same screens. What makes the name worth a closer look now is the gap between a 45.8% return on equity and a 4.5B USD market cap, paired with a forward multiple that implies earnings expected to step up sharply from trailing levels. The open question for the deeper work is how much of that earnings step-up depends on sustained attendance, and how much leverage on the balance sheet amplifies it in a downturn.
