Overview
ACCE thesis
ACEA S.p.A. runs the water, electricity and waste-management networks serving Rome and much of the surrounding Lazio region, along with gas distribution and retail energy supply, so its earnings come mostly from regulated tariffs rather than commodity prices. Its moat is the concession itself: a dense, hard-to-replicate local network, with tariffs set by the regulator and returns that are reset periodically. The near-term driver is the scheduled tariff and capex plan, which should keep revenue compounding; the company reported 6.3% revenue growth, and that rate is the first thing to check against the regulatory calendar. At 11.9x trailing and 12.7x forward earnings with a 12.4% return on equity and an 18.1% operating margin, the stock is priced below what a regulated utility with that return profile would usually command, though the forward multiple implies earnings expected to dip slightly. The case deserves a deeper look if you can confirm that the tariff reset supports the growth rate and that the margin holds through the next capex cycle.
