Overview
ACCE thesis
SiteOne Landscape Supply distributes irrigation, lighting, hardscape and nursery products to landscaping contractors and property managers through a network of branches across the US and Canada. Its moat is mostly scale and density: the largest branch footprint in a fragmented market lets it stock deeper inventory and serve contractors on same-day delivery, which is hard for smaller independents to match. Growth is modest at 4.7% revenue growth, so the case rests on margin recovery and on acquisitions of regional distributors rather than on organic expansion. The stock trades at 25.8 times trailing earnings but 19.3 times forward, which implies the market expects earnings to rise faster than sales over the next year. Its 35.1% gross margin and 12.9% operating margin are respectable for a distributor, but a 10.1% return on equity and a score of 48/100 mean the quality signal is mixed, so the name warrants a deeper look only if a PM believes the forward earnings step-up is credible.
