Overview
ACCE thesis
Daifuku makes the material handling systems that move parts and goods inside factories, warehouses and airports, including automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyors and cleanroom transport for semiconductor and display fabs. Its moat is installed base and engineering depth: once a plant is built around its conveyors and stockers, the customer tends to buy follow-on capacity and service from the same vendor, and the company holds a leading share in semiconductor cleanroom automation. The current driver is the reshoring and capacity build-out in chips and electronics, and the company's 10.0% revenue growth shows that demand is converting to sales. At 25.1x trailing earnings the stock looks ordinary, but the 36.2x forward multiple implies the market expects earnings to dip before they recover, which makes the gap between those two numbers the first thing to test. A 16.6% operating margin on a 25.3% gross margin is solid for hardware-heavy automation, though the business is cyclical with fab spending. Worth a deeper look to see whether the forward earnings assumptions hold up against order backlog.

Rich forward valuation
Forward P/E of 36.2 sits well above the trailing P/E of 24.0, implying analysts expect earnings to need to grow substantially to justify the current price.
AI research notes
AI-assisted·How I use AIWritten Oct 22, 2026 · figures from 2026-10-22 · prices to Oct 23, 2026
Why it could do well
Revenue grew 10.0% year over year, ahead of the 8.9% average annual growth over the past five years.
Earnings per share of 64.04 beat the 58.13 analysts expected, a 10.2% surprise in the latest quarter.
Analysts' mean price target of JPY 7483.57 sits 43.9% above the current share price.
Why it could disappoint
The forward P/E of 36.2x is well above the trailing 24.0x, which suggests analysts expect earnings to fall.
At JPY 5202.00 the shares trade 4.1% below the ACCE price target of ¥5420.00, so the stock is not obviously cheap on our numbers.
The dividend yield of 1.5% gives little income cushion if the share price stalls.
